Vincent's Chair is an extraordinary band of creative and talented individuals.
Kathie Renner's sublime vocals weaves effortlessly through hypnotic melodies of her own creation, as Karen De Nardi's Viola provides counter melodies that compliment and enhance the music. Intelligent music that speaks to your nostalgic sensibilities.
I must admit to really enjoying their music and naturally was keen to try out some film photography ideas when Kathie approached me to photograph one of their gigs.
Armed with two Leica's, an M7 and an M6 I photographed with black and white film (Kodak Tri-X pushed to 1600) and colour film (Fujifilm Natura 1600).
With all the hype surrounding the latest digital technology with camera abilities reaching incredible ISO's, super sharpness and unparalleled speeds, using a couple of film cameras was in fact very enjoyable.
Processing the black and white film myself and submitting the colour film to a lab produced some images not seen unless applied through the illusory film filter ala Instagram or VSCO. It was refreshing to hold tangible evidence of a shoot again.
If you have the opportunity to see Vincent's Chair perform, I highly recommend it! It'll be worth your time!
