Every photographer needs a hobby.
Ironically, most would assume that photography is the hobby. Though in order to stay fresh and inspired with weddings and family shoots, I turn to urban exploration (aka Street Photography) as a way to relax and sharpen my skills. A few hours walking around and being a tourist in my own town, allows my sporadic and random thoughts to settle and arrange themselves into some form of collective arrangement. The hunt to find something new in a familiar setting, adds to the excitement of the hunt, particularly if it is within a less familiar city like Sydney or Melbourne.
As the explorations are always with one of my trusty film Leica's, the moment of capture is hidden until I develop the roll and discover whether the moments were successfully captured or not. Even the process of adding the chemicals and waiting for the negatives to dry has it's on therapeutic rewards.
Whether the images 'speak' to you or not, they are a visual diary of my changing city and explorations that represent moments that will never occur again, and with them, some memories of some interesting and unusual moments.
